Tigers Wrap Up Regular Season
As the calendar changed to March, the College Dodgeball season moved into its final stretch. Towson has its flights booked to Grand Rapids, however, the second ranked Tigers got their matchups with the undefeated Lakers just two weeks before Nationals. In a huge tournament, the Tigers would face #1 Grand Valley and #3 JMU, with the top two teams playing in a championship match to end the day. The Tigers finished with a win over the Dukes, and two close losses to the Lakers, including an over time loss in the first game. The Tigers will look to avenge these losses in a couple of weeks in Allendale.
Streak ends in Harrisonburg
Towson ended its semester with a bittersweet performance the third ranked James Madison Dukes. Towson started the day with a commanding 5-3 victory, giving the Tigers a 16th consecutive victory. Following a short break, the two teams went back to battle, and after a hard fought 2nd half, the Tigers were unable to eliminate the final 5 Dukes, handing them their first loss of the year. Despite the final, Towson still had the most successful season in program history, coming in at #2 in the most recent standings. The focus now shifts on preparing for Nationals in April 2019.
Home Sweet Home
Towson returned home after a month off from tournaments to face VCU, Maryland, and Virginia. A handful of absences and injuries allowed several new faces to shine for the Tigers. After a shaky third point against the Rams, Towson managed to allow just one point the rest of the day, and improved to 12-0 on the season, including 6-0 in Burdick Gym. Towson is back in action next weekend when they travel to Kent State University, to face the best of the Ohio Region.
Hot Start
The Tigers are off and running in the 2018-19 season. For the first time in team history, Towson is unbeaten through their first nine games, taking down six different teams in that stretch. From a point perspective, the Tigers have outscored opponents 41-6 in those nine games. Towson will play in three more tournaments this semester, hosting on November 4th, traveling to Kent State on November 10th, and finishing at JMU on December 2nd.
Servicing the Community
Towson has been busy off of the court as well! On September 1st, we volunteered with Charm City Run at the Charles Street 12 Miler. We helped set-up and breakdown, check-in runners, check bags to send to the finish line, and worked as course marshals along the race. We also be participated in Towson University's Town and Gown event on November 11th to spruce up the local community. Members helped rake up leaves and pick up trash all around Towson.
